Selecting and Controlling Cameras

Starting and Stopping Video Streams

To start a video stream, double click a camera icon either on the map or the camera list. The video will open in the embedded window by default, or in a popup window if there is already an embedded stream playing.

To stop a video stream, click the 'Stop' button on the video toolbar or close the window if the stream is playing in a popup. You can also stop streams from the camera list by selecting 'Stop Video' from the right-click menu.

The maximum number of concurrent streams allowed varies depending on your user permissions.

Camera Control

To control a camera it must be in the embedded panel, you can use the 'attach' button on the video toolbar to switch a windowed stream into the embedded window.

Select the 'control' button from the video toolbar of the embedded stream to request camera control. If your permission level is adequate you will be granted a control session and shown the nudge/preset controls below the video window.

The camera control session will automatically time out if unused for several minutes.

Nudge/Preset Control

Nudge control supports movement in 8 different directions at differing levels of sensitivity. On the right side of the panel is the sensitivity bar, which can be set to various positions to change the responsiveness of the camera. Move the bar further to the right for larger movements and to the left for smaller adjustments.

Switch to the 'Presets' tab on the camera control panel to see a list of available presets specific to the current camera. Select a preset and click 'Go' to send the camera to that position.

Automatic Blanking

Depending on the permission level of your user, it may be possible for a camera to become blanked when moved into an automatic blanking zone. If this occurs the Edge Client will attempt to recover from the blanked zone by reversing your previous moves.
