Edge Client User ManualGetting StartedOnce you are sure you meet the browser and network requirements, the first thing you will need to do is launch the client. From the front page you can select running the client as a Java Applet:Java AppletThe Java Applet version of the client will run embedded in your browser, as if it was a regular web page. Closing the browser will close the client.On startup the client will check that your Java and Quicktime configuration is supported. If you receive an error message, please check the browser requirements page. Otherwise, you should be greeted with a logon screen after several seconds. Enter your username and password and select the logon button. If you do not have a username and password, but think you should have access to the system, please read the information on the register page. Upon successful authentication you will be presented with the main interface: Video WindowVideo streams will be started in this embedded window by default, if you start more than one stream it will be shown in a new popup window. It is only possible to control a camera that is currently being shown in this main embedded video window.Video ControlsThese video controls are associated with the camera/video being viewed in the adjacent window and will only be visible if video is currently streaming.
Map ControlsIn order of appearance:
Orientation InformationWhile viewing a camera stream, the compass position and description of the carriageway will be shown underneath the video. Along with the map icon and camera description, this information allows you to identify which road and carriageway a camera is pointing at.Camera ListThe camera list shows the cameras connected to the system sorted by region. You can expand each region to see a list of cameras for that control centre.Information WindowThis window shows a log of events such as control requests that have been rejected or messages from the server. You can hide this window using the arrow button on it's north border.Mini-map/Zoom ControlThe zoom control panel shows an overhead view of the map. You can enable or disable the panel by clicking the bar at the bottom of the control.
